Latest developments of the Ladies Darts Association
Due to some internal staff developments it has not been possible since the general member meeting of the LDA on 20 April last at Bochum/Germany to publish news by means of this internet site. We can now inform you that the meeting in Bochum has gone well and that the statutes, presented and discussed by President Ms Hennie Nagtegaal have been approved. Since this time, these have been legalised and passed to the notary. Also the governing board, as it presented himself during the meeting, has been accepted by the members. That means that the President Hennie Nagtegaal is supported by Ms Ellen van den Berg, who has herself taken the role as a treasurer. For the position of secretary, a job oppotunity lies open. Marketing falls under the responsibility of Gerry Walters and Chiel van Praag, Ron van den Berg and John Armstrong take the public relations under their wings.
Hennie Nagtegaal will concentrate on the drawing up of domestic regulations, as Ellen van den Berg will on financial reports. The marketing men will themselves work on the end tournament in 2008,: LDA Members Championships. Public relations will provide news and updates by means of the Internet site, where John Armstrong, amongst other things, will ensure complete up-to-date Lda-ranking. Web master Wim Filemon remains looking after and maintaining the Internet site.
LDA-ranking
This separate ranking for LDA members is based on the new WDF-ranking list and commenced for those concerned on 1 February 2007. The point system is identical to that of the WDF. Furthermore the LDA completes its ranking with additional lucrative tournaments with regards to prize money. So far there have been 3: Isle of Man Open, Open Antwerp and Open Parkstad Bavaria. These extra tournaments are designated a WDF equivalent of category 2 with regard to points. The requirement which will allow the LDA to add such tournaments is a minimum prize fund of €4,000.00 for participating ladies. Every dart organisation in the world is free to present tournaments with such a prize fund, whereupon, after evaluation, the governing board will make a decision whether to add these to the ranking.
The ranking will run annually from 1 July up to 1 July, with this first year as an exception, where the LDA has decided because of promotional start reasons it will run from the Dutch open 2007
Membership
So far a lot of ladies are registered as a candidate member and as such are already present in the LDA-Ranking list. A lot of men also registered and stand as "buddies" . With the help of their contribution they have helped the initiative establishing the association. The intention is that by 1 July official membership can be obtained. All members will receive a e-mail in which it will state that against an annual contribution of €30.00 or £20.00 one is a full member. Ladies, who are already candidate members, will receive a one-off discount on this subscription of € 7.50 or GBP. 5.00.
Points already acquired on the LDA-Ranking will remain valid only for full members.
Ideas
Everyone is more than welcome to submit their ( hers or his ) ideas, comments, criticisms, support or news, which are directly related to ladies darts worldwide! The governing board does not see itself as an all knowing all seeing entity so every additonal comment is therefore most certainly welcome!
